Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

If you have 90 minutes to spare, watch this video:

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

In Rainbows

Once again, PopMatters is right on. I'm amazed that after all these years, international fame and millions of records sold, Radiohead can still get together and make an album such as In Rainbows, true to their sound, intricate and emotional, powerful. Wow.

Everybody loves fruit salad

So if, like me, you find git-diff's default colors a bit flashy, here's how to have the same set of colors as in vim and quilt:

[color]
diff = auto
[color "diff"]
new = cyan
old = magenta
frag = yellow
meta = green
commit = normal
(This goes into ~/.gitconfig.)

Balance is but a shimmering notion

After beating git-debimport into submission for some time, I now have a reasonably coherent git archive of tcpdump with proper commit dates, correct attribution and a tag layout compatible with what git-buildpackage does.

Along the way I tried out guilt (git + quilt). Unfortunately, my trust level almost immediately reached zero.

Apart from that, today pretty much sucked. Prepare your sleep apparatus. Better luck tomorrow.
